517.06 PARTIES EXAMINED.
Every person authorized by law to perform the marriage ceremony, before solemnizing a
marriage, may examine the parties on oath, which oath the person is authorized to administer,
as to the legality of the intended marriage, and no person shall solemnize a marriage unless
satisfied that there is no legal impediment to it.
