19.64 Registration; fees.

Subdivision 1. Registration. Every person who owns, leases, or possesses colonies of bees shall register the bees with the commissioner on or before June 1 of each year or within 15 days of entry into Minnesota or taking possession of hives, whichever comes first. The registration application shall include the name and address of the applicant, a description of the exact location of each of the applicant's apiaries by county, township, range and quarter section, and other information required by the commissioner. The fee for registration under this subdivision is $25 for beekeepers with fewer than 50 colonies and $50 for beekeepers with 50 or more colonies maintained in the state. The registration required by this section is not transferable. At least one colony in each location must be plainly and legibly marked with the owner's name and telephone number and address, and other information required by the commissioner. The department shall provide information on colony locations as reported on the registrations on an Internet Web site or through other appropriate measures.
