     403.01 Emergency telephone system. 

    Subdivision 1.    General requirement.  Each county in 
 the metropolitan area shall establish a 911 emergency telephone 
 system on or before December 15, 1982 and each remaining county 
 shall establish a 911 emergency telephone system on or before 
 December 15, 1986. 

    Subd. 2.    Multijurisdictional systems.  The 911 
 systems may be multijurisdictional and regional in character 
 provided that design and implementation are preceded by 
 cooperative planning on a county-by-county basis with local 
 public safety agencies.
