     287.01 Definitions. 

    Subdivision 1.    Words, terms, and phrases.  Unless 
 the language or context clearly indicates that a different 
 meaning is intended, the following words, terms, and phrases, 
 for the purposes of sections 287.01 to 287.12, shall be given 
 the meanings subjoined to them. 

    Subd. 2.    Real property, real estate, and land.  
 "Real property," "real estate," and "land," in addition to the 
 meaning thereof contained in chapter 500, include all property a 
 conveyance whereof may be recorded or registered by a county 
 recorder under existing law. 

    Subd. 3.    Mortgage.  "Mortgage" means any instrument, 
 including a decree of marriage dissolution or an instrument made 
 pursuant to it, creating or evidencing a lien of any kind on 
 property, given or taken as security for a debt, notwithstanding 
 such debt may also be secured in part by a lien upon personalty. 

    Subd. 4.    Decree of marriage dissolution.  "Decree of 
 marriage dissolution" includes a summary real estate disposition 
 judgment or an instrument made pursuant to it.
