Subpart 1.
Registrant requirements.
The registrant must ensure that:
§
A.
any individual who will be operating or maintaining the radiation-producing equipment is adequately instructed initially in system-specific operating and emergency procedures;
§
B.
training is conducted at the addition of any new radiation-producing equipment; and
§
C.
documentation of the initial and any additional instruction is maintained according to part 4732.0330.
§
Subp. 2.
Individual requirements.
Ninety days after November 5, 2007, the individual to act as a radiographer must:
§
A.
receive training according to subpart 3;
§
B.
complete a minimum of two months of on-the-job training;
§
C.
be certified through a radiographer certification program by a certifying entity according to part 4732.1070;
§
D.
receive copies of registrant's operating and emergency procedures; and
§
E.
demonstrate understanding of the registrant's operating and emergency procedures by successfully completing a written or oral examination covering the material.
§
Subp. 3.
Required subjects.
An industrial radiographer must receive training in:
§
A.
the fundamentals of radiation safety, including:
§
(1)
characteristics of gamma radiation;
§
(2)
units of radiation dose;
§
(3)
hazards of exposure to radiation;
§
(4)
levels of radiation from radiation-producing equipment; and
§
(5)
methods of controlling radiation dose (time, distance, and shielding);
§
B.
radiation detection, including:
§
(1)
use, operation, calibration, and limitations of radiation survey instruments;
§
(2)
survey techniques; and
§
(3)
use of personal monitoring equipment;
§
C.
equipment to be used, including:
§
(1)
the operation and control of radiation-producing equipment; and
§
(2)
inspection and maintenance of equipment;
§
D.
requirements of pertinent parts of this chapter; and
§
E.
case histories of accidents in radiography.
