148.6412 LICENSURE BY EQUIVALENCY.

Subdivision 1.Persons certified by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy before June 17, 1996.

Persons certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy as an occupational therapist before June 17, 1996, may apply for licensure by equivalency for occupational therapist. Persons certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy as an occupational therapy assistant before June 17, 1996, may apply for licensure by equivalency for occupational therapy assistant.

Subd. 2.Persons certified by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy after June 17, 1996.

The board may license any person certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy as an occupational therapist after June 17, 1996, if the board determines the requirements for certification are equivalent to or exceed the requirements for licensure as an occupational therapist under section 148.6408. The board may license any person certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy as an occupational therapy assistant after June 17, 1996, if the board determines the requirements for certification are equivalent to or exceed the requirements for licensure as an occupational therapy assistant under section 148.6410. Nothing in this section limits the board's authority to deny licensure based upon the grounds for discipline in sections 148.6401 to 148.6449.

Subd. 3.Application procedures.

Applicants for licensure by equivalency must provide:

(1) the application materials as required by section 148.6420, subdivisions 1, 3, and 4; and

(2) the fees required by section 148.6445.
