     152.0261 Importing controlled substances across state 
  borders. 

    Subdivision 1.    Felony.  A person who crosses a state 
 or international border into Minnesota while in possession of an 
 amount of a controlled substance that constitutes a first degree 
 controlled substance crime under section 152.021, subdivision 2, 
 is guilty of importing controlled substances and may be 
 sentenced as provided in subdivision 3. 

    Subd. 2.    Jurisdiction.  A violation of subdivision 1 
 may be charged, indicted, and tried in any county, but not more 
 than one county, into or through which the actor has brought the 
 controlled substance. 

    Subd. 3.    Penalty.  A person convicted of violating 
 this section is guilty of a felony and may be sentenced to 
 imprisonment for not more than 35 years or to payment of a fine 
 of not more than $1,250,000, or both.
