31.92 DEFINITIONS.
Subdivision 1. Scope. As used in sections 31.92 to 31.94, the terms defined in this section
have the meanings given.
Subd. 1a.[Repealed, 1996 c 310 s 1]
Subd. 2. Department. "Department" means the Department of Agriculture.
Subd. 2a.[Repealed, 2003 c 107 s 33]
Subd. 2b. Federal law. "Federal law" means the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990,
United States Code, title 7, sections 6501 et seq. and associated regulations in Code of Federal
Regulations, title 7, section 205.
Subd. 3. Organic. "Organic" is a labeling term that refers to an agricultural product produced
in accordance with federal law.
Subd. 3a. Organic production. "Organic production" means a production system that is
managed in accordance with federal law to respond to site-specific conditions by integrating
cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological
balance, and conserve biodiversity.
Subd. 4. Producer. "Producer" means a person who is responsible for growing or raising
organic food.
