     169.725 Tire safety enforcement. 

    If a peace officer has reasonable cause to believe that a 
 passenger automobile is equipped with tires in violation of 
 sections 169.721 to 169.727, or of the rules adopted under 
 section 169.722, the officer may require the operator of the 
 passenger automobile to stop and submit the passenger automobile 
 to an inspection.  If the inspection discloses that the tires of 
 the passenger automobile are in violation, the officer may issue 
 a citation for the violation, and the defect must be corrected 
 as soon as possible.  For purposes of this section, "peace 
 officer" means a state trooper, a county sheriff, a deputy 
 sheriff, and a municipal police officer.
