     256D.19 Abolition of township system of poor relief.  

    Subdivision 1.  The town system for caring for the poor in 
 each of the counties in which it is in effect is hereby 
 abolished.  The local social services agency of each county 
 shall administer general assistance under the provisions of Laws 
 1973, chapter 650, article 21.  

    Subd. 2.  All local social services agencies affected by 
 Laws 1973, chapter 650, article 21 are hereby authorized to take 
 over for the county as of January 1, 1974, the ownership of all 
 case records relating to the administration of poor relief.
