     256.06 Guardianship of inmates.  

    The commissioner of human services shall be deemed the 
 guardian of the persons of the inmates of any state hospital or 
 asylum for the insane or of any school for feebleminded and 
 colony for persons having epilepsy for the purpose of consenting 
 to any surgical operation necessary to save the life, health, 
 eyesight, hearing, or a limb of any inmate committed thereto.
