Any snowmobile operated within the right-of-way limits of a street or highway:
shall be equipped with brakes adequate to control the movement of and to stop and to hold such vehicle under any conditions of operation;
shall, when operated adjacent to a roadway during hours of darkness, be operated only in the direction of travel required of vehicles upon the traffic lane nearest to the snowmobile;
shall be equipped with at least one headlamp so aimed and of sufficient intensity to reveal persons and vehicles at a distance of at least 100 feet ahead during hours of darkness under normal atmospheric conditions; such headlamp shall be so aimed that glaring rays are not projected into the eyes of an oncoming driver; and
shall be equipped with at least one rear lamp exhibiting a red light plainly visible from a distance of 500 feet to the rear during hours of darkness under normal atmospheric conditions.
