7011.1605 STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE OF EXISTING SULFURIC ACID PRODUCTION UNITS.

Subpart 1.

Pre-July 1, 1977, limit.

Prior to July 1, 1977, no owner or operator of an existing sulfuric acid production unit shall cause to be discharged into the atmosphere from any sulfuric acid production unit any gases which contain sulfur dioxide in excess of 42 pounds per ton of acid produced (21 kg per metric ton), production being expressed as 100 percent H₂SO₄.

Subp. 2.

Post-July 1, 1977, limit.

After July 1, 1977, no owner or operator of an existing sulfuric acid production unit shall cause to be discharged into the atmosphere from any sulfuric acid production unit any gases which contain sulfur dioxide in excess of 30 pounds per ton of acid produced (15 kg per metric ton), production being expressed as 100 percent H₂SO₄.

Subp. 3.

Acid mist.

No owner or operator of an existing sulfuric acid production unit shall cause to be discharged into the atmosphere from any sulfuric acid production unit any gases which contain acid mist, expressed as H₂SO₄, in excess of 1.70 pounds per ton of acid produced (0.85 kg per metric ton), the production being expressed as 100 percent H₂SO₄.
