4720.3922 INTAKES.

Intake structures must provide:

A.

a velocity of flow 0.25 to 0.50 feet per second through the inlet structure so frazil ice is held to a minimum;

B.

for the withdrawal of water from the depth of the best water quality;

C.

inspection manholes every 1,000 feet for pipe sizes large enough to permit visual inspection;

D.

protection against rupture by dragging anchors, ice, and other activity; and

E.

permanent monuments to reference locations.
