7011.2300 STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE FOR STATIONARY INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES.

Subpart 1.

Visible air contaminants.

No owner or operator of any stationary internal combustion engine shall cause or permit the emission of visible air contaminants from the engine in excess of 20 percent opacity once operating temperatures have been attained.

Subp. 2.

Sulfur dioxide.

A.

An owner or operator of a stationary internal combustion engine must not allow any gases that contain sulfur dioxide in excess of 0.5 pounds per million Btu actual heat input to be discharged into the atmosphere from the engine unless an alternative emission limit for sulfur dioxide in an air emission permit or other enforceable document is used to demonstrate modeled compliance with the sulfur dioxide standards in parts 7009.0080 and 7009.0090.

B.

No later than January 31, 2018, owners or operators of a stationary internal combustion engine must not allow any gases that contain sulfur dioxide in excess of 0.0015 pounds per million Btu actual heat input to be discharged into the atmosphere from the engine unless an alternative sulfur dioxide emission limit in an air emission permit or other enforceable document is used to demonstrate modeled compliance with the sulfur dioxide standards in parts 7009.0080 and 7009.0090.

Subp. 3.

Heat input.

The actual heat input and rated heat input of an internal combustion engine shall be determined in accordance with the provisions set forth in parts 7011.0500 to 7011.0550.
