4685.0905 PURPOSE AND APPLICABILITY.

The purpose of parts 4685.0905 to 4685.0950 is to:

A.

permit, but not require, plans to include a coordination of benefits provision;

B.

establish the order in which plans pay claims;

C.

provide the authority for the orderly transfer of information needed to pay claims promptly;

D.

reduce duplication of benefits by permitting a reduction of the benefits paid by a plan when the plan does not have to pay its benefits first;

E.

reduce delays in payment of claims; and

F.

make all contracts that contain a coordination of benefits provision consistent with this regulation.
