                            CHAPTER 51-S.F.No. 1176 
                  An act relating to utilities; providing that Sleepy 
                  Eye need not provide notice to the commissioner of 
                  trade and economic development before discontinuing 
                  steam heating operations. 
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  [NOTICE TO COMMISSIONER.] 
           Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 451.09, 
        subdivision 5, the Sleepy Eye public utilities commission and 
        the city of Sleepy Eye need not provide notice to the 
        commissioner of trade and economic development prior to 
        discontinuing all or part of their steam heat system. 
           Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
           Section 1 is effective on the day following final enactment.
