                        CHAPTER 151-H.F.No. 365 
           An act relating to courts; providing that the sheriff 
          shall not charge for certain duties performed; 
          amending Minnesota Statutes 1990, section 563.01, 
          subdivision 4. 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
    Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1990, section 563.01, 
subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
    Subd. 4.  Upon order of the court, the court administrator 
and the sheriff of any Minnesota county shall perform their 
duties without charge to the person proceeding in forma 
pauperis.  The court shall direct payment of the reasonable 
expense of service of process whether pursuant to subdivision 2 
if served by a sheriff, private process server, if the sheriff 
is unavailable, or by publication.
