                        CHAPTER 184-H.F.No. 924 
           An act relating to utilities; authorizing the public 
          utilities commission to allow recovery of expenses 
          associated with economic and community development; 
          amending Minnesota Statutes 1990, section 216B.16, by 
          adding a subdivision. 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
    Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1990, section 216B.16, is 
amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
    Subd. 13.  [ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.] The 
commission may allow a public utility to recover from ratepayers 
the expenses incurred for economic and community development.  
    Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
    Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
