RESOLUTION 22-SCR No. 17
A resolution proclaiming Bud Grant Day in Minnesota
and encouraging public recognition of Bud Grant's
contribution to Minnesota.
WHEREAS, Bud Grant is retiring after 17 years as coach of
the Minnesota Vikings; and
WHEREAS, as coach of the Vikings, Bud Grant compiled a
record of 151 victories, made the playoffs 12 times, won 15
division titles, won one NFL title, won three NFC titles, and
took the Vikings to four Super Bowls; and
WHEREAS, Bud Grant, during his 35 years in professional
sports, has acquired the reputation among his peers and fans
alike of a man who exemplifies sportsmanship in its truest form;
and
WHEREAS, Bud Grant, through his sportsmanlike example,
whether on the field or in his outdoor avocations, has been
recognized throughout the country as an ambassador for the
people of the State of Minnesota and all it stands for; and
WHEREAS, Bud Grant's unique contributions to our state
should not go unnoticed; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota, the
House of Representatives concurring, that a day designated by
the Governor is proclaimed as Bud Grant Day in Minnesota.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that on that day the people of
Minnesota are encouraged to show their admiration for Bud Grant
and to celebrate his accomplishments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Revisor of Statutes is
directed to prepare an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be
authenticated by the President and Secretary of the Senate and
the Speaker and Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives, and
that it be presented to the Governor for his approval or veto.
If approved, he shall file it with the Secretary of State.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of State is
directed to prepare a certified copy of this resolution and
present it to Bud Grant.
