An act relating to insurance; requiring all notices of
cancellation of homeowner's policies to be written in
language that is easy to read and understandable;
amending Minnesota Statutes 1982, section 65A.29,
subdivision 4.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1982, section 65A.29,
subdivision 4, is amended to read:
Subd. 4. [FORM REQUIREMENTS.] Any notice or statement
required by subdivisions 1 to 3 shall, or any other notice
canceling a homeowner's insurance policy must be written in
language which is easily readable and understandable by a person
of average intelligence and understanding. The statement of
reason shall must be sufficiently specific to convey, clearly
and without further inquiry, the basis for the insurer's refusal
to renew or to write the insurance coverage.
