CHAPTER 22--S.F.No. 224
An act relating to local government; permitting the
city of Big Falls and part of Koochiching county to
join a hospital district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. [HOSPITAL DISTRICT TERRITORY; BIG FALLS;
KOOCHICHING COUNTY.]
The governing body of the city of Big Falls may request the
annexation of the city to a hospital district in Itasca county
organized under Minnesota Statutes, sections 447.31 to 447.37,
without regard to any contiguity requirement of those sections.
The Koochiching county board may, acting for the
unorganized townships described in this section, request the
annexation of those townships to a hospital district in Itasca
county organized under sections 447.31 to 447.37 without regard
to any contiguity requirement of those sections.
The following unorganized townships located in Koochiching
county: 154 North, Range 25 West; 66 North, Range 27 West; 65
North, Range 27 West; 65 North, Range 26 West; 64 North, Range
27 West; 64 North, Range 26 West; 63 North, Range 27 West; 63
North, Range 26 West.
The annexation shall not be requested unless approved by a
majority of the electors of the city of Big Falls and of the
unorganized townships voting together at a regular or special
election.
Sec. 2. [LOCAL APPROVAL.]
This act is effective separately for each of the city of
Big Falls and Koochiching county the day after compliance with
Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3, by its
governing body.
