1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; NATIVE PLANT RESEARCH.
1.6 Subdivision 1. Appropriation. $1,000,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2008 from
1.7the general fund to the regents of the University of Minnesota to fund a program of basic
1.8agronomic research on native plants, including plant-breeding, nutrient management, pest
1.9management, yield, viability, and distiller grains and other biofuel production co-products.
1.10 Subd. 2. Technical advisory committee. To ensure that public benefits are
1.11secured from the research funded in subdivision 1, the University of Minnesota shall
1.12establish a technical advisory committee consisting of representatives of the Department
1.13of Agriculture and other appropriate public and private stakeholders to develop research
1.14guidelines.
