A bill for an act
 relating to local government; prohibiting cities from
collecting certain unpaid water charges through
property taxes; amending Minnesota Statutes 2004,
section 444.075, subdivision 3e.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 444.075,
subdivision 3e, is amended to read:


Subd. 3e.

Who may be charged; unpaid charges.

The
governing body may make the charges a charge new text begin only new text end against the
deleted text begin owner, lessee, occupant or all of them deleted text end new text begin person or persons whose
names are on record for billing new text end and may provide and covenant for
certifying unpaid charges to the county auditor with taxes
against deleted text begin the deleted text end property deleted text begin served deleted text end new text begin owned by that person or persons in
the county new text end for collection as other taxes are collected.
