BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $1,000,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2008 from
the general fund to the regents of the University of Minnesota to fund a program of basic
agronomic research on native plants, including plant-breeding, nutrient management, pest
management, yield, and viability.

new text begin Technical advisory committee. new text end

new text begin To ensure that public benefits are
secured from the research funded in subdivision 1, the University of Minnesota shall
establish a technical advisory committee consisting of representatives of the Department
of Agriculture and other appropriate public and private stakeholders to develop research
guidelines.
