A bill for an act
relating to data practices; classifying certain data related to small business
certification programs; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 13.591, by
adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 13.591, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Financial records of
a business submitted to a government entity as part of the business' application for
certification as a small, minority-owned, or woman-owned business are private or
nonpublic data. Financial records of a business include, but are not limited to, credit
reports; financial statements; net worth calculations; business plans; income and expense
projections; balance sheets; customer lists; income tax returns; and design, market, and
feasibility studies not paid for with public funds.
