                            CHAPTER 115-S.F.No. 1269 
                  An act relating to veterans; providing for placement 
                  in the Capitol of a plaque commemorating the soldiers 
                  who participated in the Bataan Death March.  
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  [PLAQUE; BATAAN DEATH MARCH.] 
           Subject to approval by the Capitol Area Architectural and 
        Planning Board, a plaque may be placed in the Capitol rotunda or 
        some other appropriate place in the Capitol area to honor the 
        soldiers of the 194th Light Tank Battalion and other persons 
        whose units, under General King's surrender orders of April 9, 
        1942, were submitted to Japanese control and forced to march up 
        to ten days with no food or water in what has become known as 
        the Bataan Death March.  The commissioner of veterans affairs 
        shall ensure placement of the plaque and may accept 
        contributions from nonstate sources to pay for the plaque and 
        its placement.
