An act relating to natural resources; adding to the
Iron Range off-highway vehicle state recreation area;
extending the availability of a previous
appropriation; providing exemptions from hunting
restrictions in certain areas.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. [ADDITION TO IRON RANGE OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE
RECREATION AREA.]
[85.013] [Subd. 12a.] [IRON RANGE OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE
RECREATION AREA, ST. LOUIS COUNTY.] The following areas are
added to the Iron Range off-highway vehicle recreation area, all
in Township 58 North, Range 17 West, St. Louis county:
(1) the West Half of the Northeast Quarter; and the West
Half of the Southeast Quarter in Section 14; and
(2) the West Half of the Northeast Quarter in Section 23,
lying north of the Mesabi Trail.
Sec. 2. [APPROPRIATION EXTENSION.]
Notwithstanding Laws 1998, chapter 401, section 4, the
appropriations in Laws 1996, chapter 407, section 3, for the
Iron Range off-highway vehicle recreation area are available
until expended.
Sec. 3. [EXEMPTIONS FROM HUNTING RESTRICTIONS.]
(a) Hunting is permitted in accordance with state law and
local government regulations in:
(1) the off-highway vehicle recreation area established
under Laws 1996, chapter 407, section 32, and Laws 1999, chapter
231, section 99; and
(2) the state recreation area established under Laws 1993,
chapter 172, section 34.
(b) The commissioner of natural resources shall amend any
rules that do not conform with this section.
