                            CHAPTER 414-H.F.No. 3633
An act relating to state observances; designating
Mighty Eighth Air Force Week; proposing coding for new
law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 10.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. [10.57] [MIGHTY EIGHTH AIR FORCE WEEK.]
Beginning in 2000, the week of October 8 to 14 is
designated as Mighty Eighth Air Force Week in honor of the
Eighth Air Force, the largest military unit to serve in World
War II, whose heroic actions during the week of October 8 to 14,
1943, served as a turning point for daytime strategic bombing,
despite the loss of 26,000 persons killed in action, over 28,000
prisoners of war, uncounted persons missing in action, and over
100 heavy bombers. Each year thereafter, until 2099, the
governor shall issue a proclamation honoring this observance.
Presented to the governor April 12, 2000
           Signed by the governor April 14, 2000, 2:08 p.m.
