                            CHAPTER 56-S.F.No. 1173 
                  An act relating to water; approving the granting of a 
                  permit for the consumptive use of groundwater pursuant 
                  to Minnesota Statutes, section 103G.265, subdivision 3.
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  [CONSUMPTIVE USE OF GROUNDWATER.] 
           Pursuant to the requirements of Minnesota Statutes, section 
        103G.265, subdivision 3, the legislature hereby approves the 
        granting of a permit by the commissioner of natural resources to 
        the metropolitan council for the consumptive use of more than 
        2,000,000 gallons of water per day average in a 30-day period 
        for the operation of a permanent groundwater relief system at 
        the Blue Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Scott county.
           Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
           Section 1 is effective on the day following final enactment.
