                             CHAPTER 89-H.F.No. 627 
                  An act relating to Washington county; changing the 
                  length of the terms of housing and redevelopment 
                  authority commissioners; amending Laws 1974, chapter 
                  475, section 2, by adding a subdivision. 
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  Laws 1974, chapter 475, section 2, is amended 
        by adding a subdivision to read: 
           Subd. 3.  [THREE-YEAR TERMS.] Notwithstanding any other 
        law, at the expiration of the term of the Washington county 
        housing and redevelopment authority commissioner from each 
        commissioner district, the next and each succeeding term is 
        three years, and until a successor is appointed and qualified. 
           Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; LOCAL APPROVAL.] 
           Section 1 is effective the day after Washington county's 
        chief clerical officer complies with Minnesota Statutes, section 
        645.021, subdivision 3.
