                            CHAPTER 259-H.F.No. 2499 
                  An act relating to Hennepin county; removing the 
                  dollar limitation for certain small purchases that may 
                  be authorized by the board; amending Minnesota 
                  Statutes 1996, section 383B.143, subdivision 4. 
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 383B.143, 
        subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
           Subd. 4.  [SMALL PURCHASES; RULES.] The board may 
        authorize, subject to rules promulgated by the administrator, 
        purchases other than those defined in subdivision 1, not to.  
        exceed the sum of $250 for each purchase and not to exceed an 
        annual amount for all such purchases greater than $10,000 from 
        the total annual appropriation for any department. 
           Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
           Section 1 is effective, without local approval, the day 
        after its final enactment.
