                             CHAPTER 42-H.F.No. 566 
                  An act relating to the board of government innovation 
                  and cooperation; extending an exemption from 
                  enforcement of law granted by the board during 
                  calendar year 1996; amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, 
                  section 465.797, subdivision 5a. 
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 465.797, 
        subdivision 5a, is amended to read: 
           Subd. 5a.  [EXEMPTIONS GRANTED IN 1995.] Notwithstanding 
        subdivision 5, exemptions from enforcement of law granted by the 
        board during calendar year 1995 remain in effect until June 30, 
        1999.  An exemption granted by the board for Itasca county 
        during calendar year 1996 allowing the county to implement a 
        demonstration project to determine the feasibility of using a 
        managed care model for financing chemical dependency treatment 
        services remains in effect until June 30, 1999.  This 
        subdivision expires June 30, 1999. 
           Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
           Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
