                            CHAPTER 293-S.F.No. 2802 
                  An act relating to natural resources; providing an 
                  appropriation for snowmobile grants-in-aid; requiring 
                  a report; appropriating money. 
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
           $600,000 is appropriated from the snowmobile trails and 
        enforcement account in the natural resources fund to the 
        commissioner of natural resources for snowmobile grants-in-aid, 
        to be available until June 30, 1997.  
           Sec. 2.  [SNOWMOBILE REPORT.] 
           The commissioner of natural resources shall prepare a 
        report that contains the following: 
           (1) an implementation plan for using at least 65 percent of 
        all money appropriated from the snowmobile trails and 
        enforcement account for snowmobile grants-in-aid beginning in 
        the 1998-1999 biennium; and 
           (2) recommendations for additional funding sources for 
        snowmobile grants-in-aid. 
           The report must be submitted by October 1, 1996, to the 
        finance division of the senate committee on environment and 
        natural resources and the house of representatives committee on 
        environment and natural resources finance. 
           Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
           This act is effective the day following final enactment.
