An act relating to retirement; St. Paul police
consolidation account; authorizing the payment of
refunds to the estates of certain deceased police
officers.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. [ST. PAUL POLICE CONSOLIDATION ACCOUNT; REFUND
IN CERTAIN INSTANCES.]
(a) Upon filing a written application by an applicable
heir, the St. Paul police consolidation account may pay, in
equal shares if there is more than one heir, a refund of member
contributions and interest, as specified in Minnesota Statutes,
section 423A.18, paragraph (b), to the direct lineal heir or
heirs of the person described in paragraph (b).
(b) The person referenced in paragraph (a) is a person who:
(1) was a police officer employed by the city of St. Paul
and a member of the St. Paul police relief association;
(2) was born on February 4, 1941; and
(3) died on May 1, 1990.
(c) It is expressly intended that Minnesota Statutes,
section 423A.18, be retroactive in its application to this
instance.
Sec. 2. [EFFECTIVE DATE.]
Section 1 is effective on the day following final approval
by the city council of the city of St. Paul and compliance with
Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021.
