An act relating to state lands; authorizing the
department of natural resources to sell certain state
land in the counties of Itasca and St. Louis.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. [SALE OF SCHOOL TRUST FUND LAND IN ITASCA
COUNTY.]
(a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 89.01,
subdivision 5, the commissioner of natural resources may sell
school trust fund land in Itasca county described in this
section in the manner prescribed for trust fund land under
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 92. The land and improvements must
be appraised separately. If the purchasers are not Scott and
Julie Ramsdell for parcel number 1 or Corrine DeWitt for parcel
number 2, the purchaser must reimburse the owner of the
improvements for the appraised value of the improvements.
(b) The land to be conveyed is two parcels. Parcel number
1, consisting of approximately 5.33 acres, is that part of the
North Half of the Northeast Quarter, Section 16, Township 147
North, Range 25 West of the Fifth Principal Meridian, Itasca
County, Minnesota described as follows: Commencing at the
Northwest corner of said North Half of the Northeast Quarter;
thence East, bearing assigned, on the North line thereof 428.89
feet to the point of beginning of the land to be described;
thence continue East 981.31 feet; thence South 235.00 feet to
intersect the South line of the North 235.00 feet of the North
Half of the Northeast Quarter; thence West on said South line
995.99 feet to intersect a line bearing South 3 degrees 28
minutes 33 seconds West from the point of beginning; thence
North 3 degrees 28 minutes 33 seconds East 235.43 feet to the
point of beginning and there terminate.
Parcel number 2 consisting of approximately 1.08 acres, is
that part of the North Half of the Northeast Quarter, Section
16, Township 147 North, Range 25 West of the Fifth Principal
Meridian, Itasca County, Minnesota described as follows:
Commencing at the Northwest corner of said North Half of the
Northeast Quarter; thence East, bearing assigned, on the North
line thereof 228.89 feet to the point of beginning of the land
to be described; thence continue East 200.00 feet; thence South
3 degrees 28 minutes 33 seconds West 235.43 feet to intersect
the South line of the North 235.00 feet of said North Half of
the Northeast Quarter; thence West on said south line 200.00
feet to intersect a line bearing South 3 degrees 28 minutes 33
seconds West from the point of beginning; thence North 3 degrees
28 minutes 33 seconds East 235.43 feet to the point of beginning
and there terminate.
(c) The land sales will resolve an inadvertent trespass
that was identified by a private survey. The public interest
will be best served when this trespass is resolved.
Sec. 2. [ST. LOUIS COUNTY CANNISTER SITE.]
Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 89.01,
subdivision 5, or any other law to the contrary, the sale by the
commissioner of natural resources of the following described
state land located inside Kabetogama State Forest to St. Louis
County is hereby ratified and confirmed: The Northwest Quarter
of the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 9,
Township 68 North, Range 20 West, St. Louis County.
Sec. 3. [EFFECTIVE DATE.]
Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final
enactment.
