                            CHAPTER 570-S.F.No. 309 
                  An act relating to St. Paul; authorizing the city to 
                  require employees to reside in the city. 
        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
           Section 1.  [ST. PAUL; RESIDENCY FOR CITY EMPLOYEES.] 
           Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 415.16 or any 
        other statute or home rule charter provision, the city of St. 
        Paul may by ordinance require that a person be a resident of the 
        city as a condition of employment by the city.  The residency 
        requirement may be applied by the city only to persons hired by 
        the city after the effective date of the ordinance. 
           Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; LOCAL APPROVAL.] 
           Section 1 is effective the day after compliance with 
        Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3, by the 
        governing body of the city of St. Paul.
