           An act relating to claims against the state; providing 
          for payment of various claims; appropriating money. 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
    Section 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.] 
    Subdivision 1.  The sums set forth in this section are 
appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of 
corrections for payment to the persons named in full and final 
payment of claims against the state.  These appropriations are 
available until June 30, 1991. 
    Subd. 2.  Jeffrey Lee Anderson, Minnesota correctional 
facility - Oak Park Heights, Box 10, Stillwater, MN 55082, for 
injury to the middle finger of his right hand sustained while 
performing assigned duties at the Minnesota correctional 
facility - Oak Park Heights.....$1,035.00. 
    Subd. 3.  Robert Bladow, Minnesota correctional facility - 
Stillwater, Box 55, Stillwater, MN 55082, for damage to a family 
portrait mishandled by prison mail room staff.....$10.00. 
    Subd. 4.  Mark H. Deshazer, Minnesota correctional facility 
- St. Cloud, Box B, St. Cloud, MN 56302, for a shirt lost in the 
prison laundry due to mishandling by prison staff.....$14.00. 
    Subd. 5.  Kenneth D. Hawkins, 304 West Main, Fertile, MN 
56540, for medical care and treatment furnished by the United 
States Veterans Administration for injury to his back sustained 
while performing assigned duties at the Minnesota correctional 
facility - Lino Lakes.  Payment must be made directly to the 
Veterans Administration, Office of District Counsel, 112 Federal 
Building, Fort Snelling, St. Paul, MN 55111.....$13,309.00. 
    Subd. 6.  William Jackson, Minnesota correctional facility -
Stillwater, Box 55, Stillwater, MN 55082, for a fan lost during 
his transfer from the Oklahoma prison system to 
Stillwater.....$29.95. 
    Subd. 7.  Marilyn Ann Johnson, 7017 Homestead Avenue South, 
Cottage Grove, MN 55016, for a ring lost while in the care of 
prison staff at the Minnesota correctional facility - 
Shakopee.....$100.00. 
    Subd. 8.  Joseph Paul Meyers, Minnesota correctional 
facility - Stillwater, Box 55, Stillwater, MN 55082, for 
injuries to his left thumb and forefinger sustained while 
performing assigned duties at the Minnesota correctional 
facility - Stillwater.....$2,625.00. 
    Subd. 9.  Kevin R. Parke, Minnesota correctional facility - 
St. Cloud, Box B, St. Cloud, MN 56302, for injuries to his 
cervical spine sustained while performing assigned duties at the 
Minnesota correctional facility - St. Cloud.....$9,750.00. 
    Subd. 10.  Gregory Rust, Minnesota correctional facility - 
Stillwater, Box 55, Stillwater, MN 55082, for items of personal 
property lost while in the care of prison staff.....$73.87. 
    Subd. 11.  William Edward Shatto, Minnesota correctional 
facility - St. Cloud, Box B, St. Cloud, MN 56302, for injuries 
to his right thumb sustained while performing assigned duties at 
the Minnesota correctional facility - St. Cloud.....$2,062.50. 
    Subd. 12.  Peter Wagener, Minnesota correctional facility - 
St. Cloud, Box B, St. Cloud, MN 56302, for photos and a photo 
album lost while in the care of department staff transferring 
him from Oak Park Heights to St. Cloud.....$202.00. 
    Subd. 13.  Jerry Lee Warren, Minnesota correctional 
facility - St. Cloud, Box B, St. Cloud, MN 56302, for injuries 
to his right hand while performing assigned duties at the 
Minnesota correctional facility - St. Cloud.....$7,500.00. 
    Subd. 14.  Richard Widmer, 360 Park Meadows Drive, No. 302, 
Waite Park, Minnesota 56387: 
    (1) For injury to his right ankle sustained while 
performing assigned duties at the Minnesota correctional 
facility - Stillwater.....$3,000.00. 
    (2) To the commissioner of corrections to pay the cost of a 
neurological examination and other tests necessary to determine 
the appropriate further medical treatment for the injury, 
without prejudice to a future claim by Mr. Widmer for the costs 
of that further medical treatment.....$1,500.00. 
    Subd. 15.  Charles Williams, Minnesota correctional 
facility - Stillwater, Box 55, Stillwater, MN 55082, for 
permanent scarring on the bridge of his nose and in the area of 
his left eye received while performing assigned duties at the 
Minnesota correctional facility - Stillwater.....$100.00. 
    Subd. 16.  For reimbursement to state or local agencies of 
amounts paid for medical services to individuals who were 
injured while performing community service work for correctional 
purposes under Minnesota Statutes, section 3.739: 
    (1) For claims under $500.00 each.....$2,159.92. 
    (2) For medical services provided to Randy Ernest Pickett, 
Box 562, Park Rapids, MN 56470, for bruises and scratches 
sustained when he fell from the roof of the Akeley Senior 
Citizens Center while installing shingles as part of his 
community service requirement.....$517.55. 
    Sec. 2.  [DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.] 
    Subdivision 1.  The sums set forth in this section are 
appropriated from the funds named to the commissioner of 
transportation for payment to the persons named in full and 
final payment of claims against the state.  The appropriations 
are available until June 30, 1991. 
    Subd. 2.  Gennessee Township, Kandiyohi County, c/o Robert 
L. Nelson, chair, 12730 First Avenue East, Atwater, MN 56209, 
for gravel and grading of township roads that were used as an 
alternative to a state-established detour.  This appropriation 
is from the trunk highway fund.....$29,965.38. 
    Subd. 3.  Harrison Township, Kandiyohi County, c/o Margaret 
Wheeler, clerk, 5051 180th Avenue NE, Atwater, MN 56209, for 
gravel and grading of township roads that were used as an 
alternative to a state-established detour.  This appropriation 
is from the trunk highway fund.....$16,818.43. 
    Subd. 4.  KGM Leasing, Inc., Box 117, Orr, MN 55771, for 
expenses incurred in preparing to perform a county highway 
construction contract that was awarded to KGM Leasing, Inc., and 
later canceled by the state.  This appropriation is from the 
county state aid highway fund.....$19,500.00. 
    Sec. 3.  [DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS.] 
    Subdivision 1.  The sums set forth in this section are 
appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of 
veterans affairs for payment to the persons named in full and 
final payment of claims against the state for adjusted 
compensation arising from World War II, the Korean conflict, and 
Vietnam service.  The appropriations are available until June 
30, 1991.
