An act relating to jobs and training; establishing
limits for rates under the child care sliding fee
program; amending Minnesota Statutes 1986, section
268.91, subdivision 8.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1986, section 268.91,
subdivision 8, is amended to read:
Subd. 8. [MAXIMUM COUNTY RATE CHILD CARE RATES.] The
county board may limit the subsidy allowed by setting a maximum
on the provider child care rate that the county shall
subsidize. The rate set by any county shall not be lower than
110 percent or higher than 125 percent of the median rate for
like care arrangements in that county. In order to be
reimbursed for more than 110 percent of the median rate, a
provider with employees must pay wages for teachers, assistants,
and aides that are more than 110 percent of the county average
rate for child care workers.
