A bill for an act
relating to higher education; requiring cuts in spending for administrative costs at
public higher education institutions.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES CENTRAL
OFFICE AND SHARED SERVICES UNIT BUDGET CUT.

new text begin The appropriation to the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and
Universities for the central office and shared services unit for the biennium ending June
30, 2013, must be at least ten percent less than the appropriation for the central office
and shared services unit for the biennium ending June 30, 2011. Reductions under this
section must not be allocated to any institution and must not be charged back to any
campus or institution.

Sec. 2. new text begin UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS BUDGET
CUT.

new text begin The Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota shall expend ten percent less
for administrative services from the appropriation made to the board for the biennium
ending June 30, 2013, than it expended for administrative services from the appropriation
made to the board for the biennium ending June 30, 2011.
