  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to marriage dissolution; changing calculation 
  1.3             of income when physical custody of children is split 
  1.4             between parents; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, 
  1.5             section 518.54, subdivision 6. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 518.54, 
  1.8   subdivision 6, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 6.  [INCOME.] "Income" means any form of periodic 
  1.10  payment to an individual including, but not limited to, wages, 
  1.11  salaries, payments to an independent contractor, workers' 
  1.12  compensation, reemployment insurance, annuity, military and 
  1.13  naval retirement, pension and disability payments.  Benefits 
  1.14  received under Title IV-A of the Social Security Act and chapter 
  1.15  256J are not income under this section, except that those 
  1.16  benefits are income of a parent if physical custody of children 
  1.17  is split between two parents and each parent is both an obligor 
  1.18  and obligee of child support payments.
