  1.1                      A bill for an act relating 
  1.2             to agriculture; requiring equine teeth floaters to 
  1.3             have indirect supervision; proposing coding for new 
  1.4             law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 156. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [156.075] [REQUIREMENT FOR EQUINE TEETH 
  1.7   FLOATERS.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [DEFINITIONS.] For purposes of this section 
  1.9   the following terms have the meanings given them. 
  1.10     (a) "Floating equine teeth" means: 
  1.11     (1) removal of enamel points from teeth with handheld, 
  1.12  nonmotorized, non-air-powered files or rasps; 
  1.13     (2) reestablishing normal molar table angles and freeing up 
  1.14  lateral excursion and other normal movements of the mandible; 
  1.15     (3) shaping the lingual aspect of the lower arcades and the 
  1.16  buccal aspect of the upper arcades to a rounded smooth surface; 
  1.17  and 
  1.18     (4) removing points from the buccal aspect of the upper 
  1.19  arcade and the lingual aspect of the lower arcade. 
  1.20     (b) "Indirect supervision" means the attending veterinarian 
  1.21  or veterinarian who regularly provides veterinary care to the 
  1.22  horse or horses, has given oral or written instructions for 
  1.23  treatment of the patient, and is readily available by telephone 
  1.24  or other form of immediate communication.  The veterinarian must 
  1.25  be currently licensed under this chapter. 
  2.1      Subd. 2.  [SERVICES.] A person may perform floating equine 
  2.2   teeth services under indirect supervision.
