A bill for an act
relating to state contracting; providing that for the purposes of contracting with
state agencies, Indian tribes or bands are deemed to be local government units
and political subdivisions of the state; amending Minnesota Statutes 2004,
section 16C.05, subdivision 7.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 16C.05, subdivision 7, is amended to read:

Subd. 7.

Contracts with Indian tribes and bands.

Notwithstanding any other
law, an agency may not require an Indian tribe or band to deny its sovereignty as a
requirement or condition of a contract with an agency. new text begin For the purposes of contracting
