1.1A resolution
1.2memorializing the President and Congress to promote and support the nuclear electric
1.3generation industry.
1.4WHEREAS, nuclear energy has provided a reliable electric energy supply to the citizens of
1.5the United States over the last 50 years; and
1.6WHEREAS, nuclear energy is a base load energy provider that can be dispatched to users
1.7seven days a week and 24 hours a day; and
1.8WHEREAS, nuclear energy does not involve the emission of greenhouse gases and other
1.9harmful emissions that are of great concern with respect to global climate change and other
1.10deleterious effects of those emissions; and
1.11WHEREAS, nuclear energy has a very safe operating record in the United States; NOW,
1.12THEREFORE,
1.13BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota that Congress should
1.14speedily enact legislation to expand and promote the use of nuclear fuel to generate electricity.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of State of the State of Minnesota is
1.16directed to prepare copies of this memorial and transmit them to the President of the United
1.17States, the President and the Secretary of the United States Senate, and the Speaker and the Clerk
1.18of the United States House of Representatives.
