A bill for an act
relating to employment; providing up to three hours of paid leave in any
12-month period for state employees to donate blood; authorizing employers to
provide leave to employees to donate blood; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapters 43A; 181.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

[43A.187] BLOOD DONATION LEAVE.

A state employee must be granted leave from work with 100 percent of pay, not to
exceed three hours in a 12-month period, to donate blood. This leave must not affect the
employee's vacation leave, pension, compensatory time, personal vacation days, sick
leave, earned overtime accumulation, or cause a loss of seniority.

An employer may grant paid leave from work to an employee to allow the employee
to donate blood.
