  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; appropriating money for the 
  1.3             prevention of sexually transmitted infections. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $2,600,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the 
  1.7   general fund to the commissioner of health for the prevention of 
  1.8   sexually transmitted infections.  The funds shall be used in 
  1.9   accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 144.065, to: 
  1.10     (1) expand access to free screening and testing for 
  1.11  sexually transmitted infections; 
  1.12     (2) increase statewide awareness about sexually transmitted 
  1.13  infections, including HIV; 
  1.14     (3) engage community-based organizations to address 
  1.15  disparities in the impact of sexually transmitted infections; 
  1.16     (4) improve research to document the impact of sexually 
  1.17  transmitted infections in Minnesota; and 
  1.18     (5) support community needs assessment and planning.
