A bill for an act
relating to energy; appropriating money for a grant for energy efficiency
improvements.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ENERGY EFFICIENCY MODIFICATIONS; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $1,250,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2014 to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to the city of Morris
for loans or grants to agricultural processing facilities for energy efficiency improvements.
Funds available under this section shall be used to increase conservation and promote
energy efficiency through retrofitting existing systems and installing new systems to recover
waste heat from industrial processes and reuse energy. This appropriation is not available
until the commissioner determines that at least $1,250,000 is committed to the project
from nonpublic sources. This is a onetime appropriation and is available until expended.
