  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to professions; authorizing the attorney 
  1.3             general to take action against unlicensed private 
  1.4             detectives and protective agents; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1996, section 326.339. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 326.339, is 
  1.8   amended to read: 
  1.9      326.339 [VIOLATIONS; PENALTY.] 
  1.10     Unless otherwise specifically provided any violation of any 
  1.11  provision or requirement of sections 326.32 to 326.339 is a 
  1.12  gross misdemeanor.  A person who operates as a private detective 
  1.13  or protective agent without the license required by section 
  1.14  326.3381 is subject to the penalties and remedies in section 
  1.15  8.31.
