  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to drivers' licenses; providing for firearms 
  1.3             safety designation on driver's license; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 171.07, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 171.07, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 10.  [FIREARMS SAFETY DESIGNATION.] On presentation 
  1.10  by an applicant of a firearms safety certificate issued to an 
  1.11  applicant who has successfully completed a firearm safety course 
  1.12  administered under section 97B.015, and payment of the required 
  1.13  fees, the department shall issue, renew, or reissue to the 
  1.14  otherwise qualified applicant a driver's license or Minnesota 
  1.15  identification card bearing a designation or symbolic 
  1.16  representation, as designed by the commissioner in consultation 
  1.17  with the commissioner of natural resources, indicating that the 
  1.18  applicant is knowledgeable in firearm safety.
