  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to human services; requiring a report; 
  1.3             providing a grant for the provision of trained service 
  1.4             dogs; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [REPORT.] 
  1.7      The commissioner of human services shall report to the 
  1.8   legislature by January 15, 1997, on the use of the grant 
  1.9   provided to Helping Paws, Inc., in section 2.  Helping Paws, 
  1.10  Inc., shall provide the commissioner information necessary to 
  1.11  complete this report. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.13     $50,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.14  commissioner of human services for the biennium ending June 30, 
  1.15  1997, for the purpose of providing a grant to Helping Paws, 
  1.16  Inc., a not-for-profit organization providing trained service 
  1.17  dogs to individuals with physical disabilities.
